Alan Lambert
The overarching theme of my research concerns the interrelationships between memory, emotion, and attitude. I take an experimental approach to these matters, involving the random assignment of participants to conditions in which they are directed to remember certain personal or "collective events", with an interest in how these memories can lead to changes in particular types of affective states (e.g. anger vs. anxiety vs. fear) which can then lead, in turn, to shifts in important types of attitudes. My current work contains a strong interest in these considerations as they apply to the political arena.
